Only 4 days

I am on the liquid diet, my doctor is Dr Singh, and I am totally clueless why you have to be on liquids for a week prior. I have done very well, but tonight I wanted 1 cheese curl sooo bad. I kknow this is silly, but it is what happened. Needless to say I DID NOT eat the cheese curl. I am so full of emotion right now that I am busting into tears. Anyone else had this on the liquids? Come I need encouragement here!!

The liquid diet is used to shrink your liver so that your surgery can be done laparoscopic.  Try and stick to the liquid diet,  the four days will be over soon.  Good luck.

My dear friend, Linda is correct!  My surgeon required 2 weeks of only clear liquids and protein drinks pre-op to shrink the liver so the surgery can be done laproscopically.  If it's in the way, then they may have to do an 'open' surgery which is exactly as it sounds; a large open incision in your stomach.

Glad you kept your craving in check and didn't cheat on your liquid diet.  It's really important to adapt and re-learn our eating habits and deal with cravings by strengthening our willpower.

Best wishes for a successful and uneventful surgery, a speedy recovery and successful weight loss!

My surgeon did not require any sort of diet before surgery. But, I know enough people on this board who had to do the liquid diet. It'll be over soon and it actually might help you with the liquid diet you have to have right after surgery.

Good luck!

I did 10 days of liquids - tears are common!  Between the normal stress before any type of surgery you are taking away a coping mechanism that got you where you are - eating... and making a major life changing decision...

It will soon be over, stay strong!
